From one quad to another
June 6th, 2007Hi, I’m Mark Whyte. I’m the webmaster for boblujano.com and I’m going to get this blog started. You can expect to hear from Bob as he talks about what’s going on in his life, career, athletic endeavors and more. He does a lot of public speaking and we hope to have some samples of his audios up soon.
Interestingly, I have a few things in common with Bob. I too am a “quad”. As you know, Bob is a quadruple amputee from a rare disease in childhood. In my case I broke my neck at Cervical 6-7 in a college wrestling match in 1977.
We are also both athletes. Bob has won multiple medals in quad rugby on the national and international scene. Whereas my primary endeavor was college wrestling and now I keep fit on my hand cycle.
We both have attitudes that say - “Hey, I’m not as good as I once was, but I’ll try it, and will do everything in my power to finish the task with excellence.”
We’re also both Christians who hold the same deep faith in the person of Jesus Christ.
